A taster from the Tip-Ex show

HEALl'H AND SAFETY pressures are prompting growing interest in non-tipping bulk trailers such as the first-ever Keith Walking Floor insulated asphalt trailer to be shown in the UK, which made its debut at last week's Tip-Ex show in Harrogate. The 45m3 smooth plankersider bulker was built by Serrus in Belgium and is being distributed in the UK by Derby-based Environmental Trailer Hire (www.enviro-trailers.co.uk).

Depending on the tractor up front, Eli-I says payloads of up to 28.5 ton nes are possible on the trailer, and that discharge of the product is not only more controlled, but also, being non-tipping, safer than a conventional bulker. The Sen-us semi has BPW axles and underfloor heating via the tractor's exhaust to keep the product at the right temperature and is available as a demonstrator. The Keith V-Floor features special heat-resistant hearings and a Quicksilver coating between Lthe moving steel slats. The Semis trailer was just one of a number of innovations at the growing Tip-Ex show — CM will cover the exhibition in detail in the next two issues, starting with rigid tippers and moving on to trailers and bodywork. So if you're a tipper operator, make sure your get your copy.
