An article on mobile phones (CM 10 April, 'A ringing endorsement') included a quote by transport lawyer rim Ridyard, which may imply that careless driving is an imprisonable offence, when it is not. Only death by careless driving when unfit (through drink/drugs) merits prison. He was making the point drivers will almost certainly be jailed for any Imprisonable driving offence', including death by careless driving (when in force), if the use of a phone while driving leads to an accident.
