Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The article "IRTE Preview" by Irby Clarke. published in Commercial Motor on 15 May 1997. makes a categorical statement about the future of the IRTE Conference and Display which is misleading.

Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding expressing an intention to stage a joint Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC in May 1998, both 1RTE and SMMT are working hard to conclude an agreement.

An agreement is yet to be signed, but whatever arrangements are made for the future, our members, exhibitors and the press will be told as soon as details can be released.

Truck fest fan

T would love to thank you 1 for giving me a bike. The bike was bit too big for me so I gave it to my brother. He drew me a picture of a truck to thank you for giving us the bike. I won the bike at the Truckfest on Bank-holiday Monday. I wrote my name down and you picked it out. 1 had to play, Play Your Cards Right and I got all the cards right and won a Saracen 21 gears Mountain bike. I really enjoyed Truckfest.

Please put this letter in magazine to say a big thank you.

Sarah Faibain, aged 9, Mika; Yorks.

Talk to your MP!

T n reply to the letter 1 "Election Fever" (CM 8-14 May). Our company has been having a long-standing discussion with our local MPs regarding the unequal playing field with regard to our industry and that of the European hauliers. The MPs in Government agree and understand what you tell them; the MPs in opposition blame the other party and say they will make changes.

The Coventry and Warwickshire region of the Federation of Small Businesses hosted a "question time" meeting at our seven different branches.

I attended three, where at each the question was asked: "What, if you are elected, will you do about the unfair competition from the European haulier?" and went on to give details on road tax, tolls and fuel. It is a sad reflection that at all three meetings, whoever you asked, whether a Liberal Democrat, Labour or Conservative, they had little understanding of the road haulage industry.

They all promised that if elected they would take on board our points. Now is the time to put our MPs fully in the picture.
