Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Amanda Bradbury • Faster flowing road freight is a major aim behind the decision to widen the M25 to a 14-lane supermotorway, says roads minister Robert Key.

Key, appointed two months ago, says he recognises the importance of hauliers' use of the motorway to the economy of the whole country.

The Department of Transport claims its plans to build a network of link roads around the M25 will help restore the motorway as a fast route around London primarily for long distance users and beat junctionhopping motorists.

Only a quarter of the traffic on the busiest section of the motorway between junctions 12 and 15 travels its whole length.

Around 34,000 commercial vehicles out of 200,000 vehicles per day use this sec tion.

"It is in everybody's interest to make sure that freight traffic stays out of traffic jams," says Key.
