WHAT was the average week household expenditure in Scotland on transport and vehicles in, say, 1979-80? On and coach fares it was £1.64; rail fares £0.46; and on other travel and transport £1.09. Some othE statistics: there are 118,760 licensed goods vehicles in Scotland (even 572 and 694 al these in Orkney and Shetland respectively); there are 2,151 licensed farmers' goods vehic in Strathclyde; goods moved 1981 rose by 870 million :Lanni kilometres from the previous year to 9,956m tonnekilometres, and E80m is the planned expenditure this year on motorways and trunk road Scottish Office, do Room 5/5; New St Andrew's House, Edinburgh.
