DIMMED HEADLIGHTS EXPERIMENT FOLLOWING a recent approach by the Chief Constable of Derby, the removals and storage company of Frank Porter Ltd., Derby, has now fitted out the first of its fleet of 27 vehicles with dimmed headlamps.

Frank Porter Ltd. has decided to go ahead with the complete conversion of its fleet, which includes other lighting modifications. The principal changes are that the standard brake lights have been removed and replaced by lights of twice the diameter (4 in.), the front and rear top corners of the body have had white and red marker lamps fitted respectively, the headlamps have been modified for dimming, and four interior lamps have been replaced by a single Easco fluorescent fitting. The complete conversion, by West and Muat Ltd. of Derby is costing about £20 per vehicle. Dimming conversion itself is said to cost only about £2.
