Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BORG-WARNER Corporation and Fiat's car division have joined forces in a move to buy an interest in the Dutch firm of Van boorne's Transmissie BV.' Vanl Doorne developed the continuously variable transmission known as the Transmatic.

Borg-Warner and Fiat have agreed in principle to acquire a 48 per cent share in Van Doorne's Transmissie BV. Directors of all the three companies must approve the sale.

Through a new stock issue, Fiat and Borg-Warner would each get 24 per cent of the company, while Van Doorne will' retain 391/2 per cent. The remaining 121/2 per cent will continue to be held by the Dutch government.

Although the Van Doorne family is involved in both the transmission side and DAF, there is no connection between the two companies. There is also no connection between Van Doorne and ZF, who also market a transmission called Transmatic.

The Van Doorne Transmatic is a continuously variable transmission which uses variable diameter pulleys in conjunction with a steel block belt. It is claimed to be ideally suited for small and medium front-wheel-drive vehicles with either transverse or inline engines.
