AN appeal by the Railway Executive, thz Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., and the Red Car Service against the authorization by the Eastern Licensing -Authority of a NorwichLondon excursion to be run by Mr. Leonard Votier, has been dismissed by the Minister of Transport.

Hiscott. Mr. J. Amphtett, for the Executive and Eastern Counties, submitted that insuffie* nt evidence of need for the service had been produced, but that even if there had, the established operator should have been called upon to provide it. Mr. A. W. Eades, for Red Car, said that there would be abstraction of traffic by the new facility.

For the respondent, Mr. C. R. Kaile stated that Mr. Votier was not a newcomer. He had been operating since 1924 and ran a Sunday service to London until 1939.

Mr. Hiscott, in recommending the Minister to dismiss the appeal, said that he did not consider that the grant would have any appreciable effect on the appellants.

Welsh Council Loses Haverfordwest Rural District Council has failed in its appeal against the South Wales Licensing Authority's sanction of higher fares for Green's Motors, Ltd., Haverfordwest. Mr. Rowe Harding, for the council, submitted to Mr. Tudor Davies, representing the Minister, that the increases were unreasonable and that the interests of regular travellers had been disregarded.

Mr. Meurig Evans, for Green's Motors, Ltd., stated that the advance was a modest demand that would convert an expected loss of E4,400 into a profit of £1,000, The company's last fares revision was a " blanket"
