MR. L. P. LORD, chairman and managing director of the Austin Motor Co., Ltd., is sailing for New York again this week. He is taking with him Mr. G. W. Harriman, works director, Mr. B. J. Hegarty, export sales manager, and two of the senior production staff.

DR. D. PARKINSON has returned from an inspection of carbon black manufacturing plants in America, made on behalf of the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., in which he holds the position of chief of the compounds division. During his tour, he gave lectures to laboratory staffs in New York and other cities on the use of carbon black in tyre manufacture.

MR. A. S. BISHOP, sales director of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co.. Ltd., who did so much to pioneer the use of large pneumatics in this country, sailed for the U.S. last Wednesday, and expects to return in November. He is to visit Akron, the headquarters of the American Goodyear organization, and will then visit Goodyear plants in many parts of America. His object is to study the latest manufacturing and marketing trends and anything which will have a bearing upon the British market in the future.
