Bridgestone launched its Ecopia truck tyre range with their focus on total tyre life cost over each axle. Life costs per kilometre are cut by 23% by the time a tyre reaches the second retread, and in some cases Bridgestone expects its new Ecopia casings to last a third retread, significantly reducing total tyre cost Ecopia tyres are also claimed to reduce rolling resistance by a combined total of 12°b across all axles, when compared to the previous Bridgestone tyres. with a 9% reduction on the rolling resistance of R109 trailer axle tyres thanks to a slimmer bead.
Bridgestone's new R249 steer axle tyres were also unveiled, equipped with new Stone Ejectors (small flexible lumps at the bottom of each groove) designed to prevent stones becoming trapped and penetrating the casing The R249 Evo tyre gets an enhanced belt made up of nine circumferential steel cords and tougher bead and sidewalls to increase stability and maximise load weights The new Greatec M709 495/45 R22.5 drive axle tyres also get the same strength improvements as the R249 Evo, in addition to an energy reducing tread pattern and a lower profile.
