Ifilhe true spirit of the European Community was alive and well in Colchester last week when a French lorry driver found his Scania trapped in a narrow part of East Stockwell Street.
At first the police and the driver found communication difficult. And the army, stationed nearby, joined the fray in trying to guide the lorry out. Then all became clear when the police found French exchange students to act as interpreters.
