R. E. H. Braithwaite, 45, since 1965 chief engineer of the Northern General Transport Co. Ltd., has been appointed chief engineer of Midland Red. Mr. Braithwaite entered the transport industry in 1948, as a trainee, with Midland Red. In 1949 he was promoted junior assistant engineer and the following year assistant engineer (service testing). Clifford C. Appleby, 33, has been appointed chief engineer of Highway Trailers (Great Britain} Ltd. Mr. Appleby has been with Highway for the past five years and, until his new appointment, was the company's chief designer. Previously. he was with Taskers Ltd.

John Sharman, 44 has been appointed National Carriers. Ltd. depot manager at Northampton, in charge of an area that includes Bletchley, Daventry, Leighton Buzzard and Wolverton. Mr. Sharman has been assistant depot manager at Leicester since 1968. Stuart Kerslake, 31, has been appointed depot manager at Margate, in charge of an area that includes Canterbury. Herne Bay, Ramsgate and Whitstable.

James Forrest has been appointed transport manager to the Aberdeen and District Milk Marketing Board to succeed K. J. McRae. Mr. Forrest joined the Board's transport staff in 1960 and has been workshop supervisor for the past seven years. Geoff Phillips, the transport manager of G.W.B. OBITUARY

We record, with regret, the death of Ellis W. Bebbington.

Mr. Bebbirigton, 51. was for 17 years transport officer of the National Farmers' Union and represented the union as a user member of the FTA.
