AT the Yorkshire operators' mass meeting held in Leeds on Sunday last, reported on page 317, for discussion of the Government haulage scheme, the North-east Regional Transport Commissioner, Major F. S. astwood, referred to the appointment of Mr. Robert Hanson, of Huddersfield, as Divisional Officer for the North-eastern Division of the Ministry of War Transport's road haulage organization. He also announced the appointment of the following as chairmen of the operators' committees which . will manage the Hauliers National Traffic Pool in the Division:—Leeds Area, Mr. Harry Wood; Sheffield Area, Mr. • Harry Grocock; Newcastle . Area, Major Currie; Elul! Sub-area, Mr. A. N. Annison.

The Minister of War Transport, said Major Eastwood. had made these appointments in consultation with the Road Haulage (Operations) Advisory Committee. The next step would be to ask operators' associations to nominate representatives to serve on the committees.
