Bexhill-on-Sea Town Council is being urged to purchase a motor fire-engine.

The Bilbao Municipal Council is inviting tenders for two motor fireengines, complete with all equipment.

Farnborough (Hants.) U.D.C. has decided to purchase more horses for the purposes of its fire brigade -much to the disgust of many local residents.

Bournemouth Town Council hopes to proceed shortly with the erection of a new fire station at Pokesdown. The inquiry into the application for the necessary sanction to a loan of 22500 was held by an L.G.B. inspector some ten days ago. It is probable that a petrol fire-engine, with a 400-gallon pumping capacity, will be purchased. On Tuesday last, the 26th inst., an L.G.B inspector held an inquiry into the application of the Aberavon Town Council for sanction to a loan of 21020 for the purpose of a motor fire-engine.

Greenock's Dennis fire-engine, purchased at a cost, inclusive of all equipment, of 21085, went through its official tests recently. Other local authorities were represented, and the firemasters present included Messrs. Waddell (Glasgow) and MacNaughton (Paisley). Various complimentary speeches were made, following a luncheon in t he Harbour Trust board-room. The plans of the Hornsey Town Council, which will involve an expenditure of 29360, have now been approved by the L.G.B.

Whitstable U.D.C. is, inquiring of various insurance companies as to possible contributions in the event of the Council's purchasing a motor fire-engine.

Finchley District Council has received tenders from the following for a petrol-motor fire-combination: Scout Motors, Ltd., £950; Leyland Motors, Ltd., £986; Dennis Bros., Ltd., £950; J. and C. Hall, Ltd., £840; Henry Simonis and Co., £875; Merryweather and Sons, Ltd., 2998.

It is of interest to note the advent of Scout Motors, Ltd.
