N. F. Raven is Tankfreight ops director

THE National Freight Corporation has appointed N. F. Raven as operations director of Tankfreight Ltd. He is moving from Freightliners where he is field sales manager.

Mr Raven began his career as an apprentice fitter at the Swindon locomotive works and held a number of technical and sales jobs with British Rail before moving to Freightliners in 1971.

He was promoted to senior sales executive two years later and in 1975 he took up his ?resent job.

Duncan Mitchell has been appointed area sales manager of Roadline in Scotland. For the past 10 years he has been Glasgow branch manager.

The Institute of the Motor Industry, South Wales region, elected its officers at its agm in Cardiff last week. Chairman is John Vickers; vice-chairman, W. A. G. Jeffries; secretary, K. D. Jones; and treasurer, H. Page.

Edward Bowen, 55, Tyne and Wear PTE becomes liaison officer on August 1. The new job will involve contact between the Northern and United bus companies and the PTE. He will be working on the introduction of new bus services in connection with the new Metro Rapid Transit System.

Mr Bowen is at present Northern General Transport assistant traffic manager.

New traffic manager with the Yorkshire Traction company is Ian Mitchell who succeeds John Tate, newly appointed traffic manager of United Counties.

Mr Mitchell is moving to Yorkshire from Northumber land where he is development officer, a job he has held since 1974.

Raymond Long is the president of the Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association for the coming year. He is chairman and managing director of his own companies, H. Markham Ltd and Refinisher Requirements Ltd of Reading.

John Allen is the new sales director of Vales DAF Trucks of Watford. He has been involved with DAF since 1972. Keith Hart becomes UK parts manager for Perkins Engines. He will be responsible or all parts and reconditioned and short engine sales in the UK.

Ailsa Bus has appointed Jimmy Lees as bus sales consultant. A former Leyland bus sales manager, he has been consultant to Duple.

Ron Holmes is to take over as general manager of Sellers and Batty. He is moving from SA Commercials at Bristol, where he was also general 'manager, to his new job at Hatfield. The company is an ERF distributor.

Des Savage who has been in charge of the commercial vehicle making activities at Vauxhall since August, has been elected to the board.

Bill Bawden, 33, has been appointed to the board of Volkswagen (GB) as parts and service director. He joined the company in September from Mercedes as parts general manager.
