Ryan is original equipment sales manager, and Mr. J. Collins-Thomas is to be sales manager, mileage and special contracts. Mr. II. M. Reed will continue as export sales manager (tyres).

Mr. Neil H. Cryer has been appointed Midland area sales manager Of Scottish Land Development Ltd.; he waS previously in the North West.

• Mr. R. S. Till has been appointed executive director and commercial manager of the Automotive Products group of companies and will be based at the Leamington Spa headquarters.

Mr. A. W. Browne, chairman of The Chloride Electrical Storage Co. Ltd., is to retire next Month after 43 years with the company. He will be succeeded by Mr. Edward Powell, who will in addition continue his duties as managing director. Mr. A. F. Tame; works superintendent (road services, Aldenham) has been appointed works manager (road services) of London Transport with effect from July 5. He will succeed Mr. J. W. Wicks, who, as already announced, will become deputy chief mechaniCal engineer (road services) on that date. Mr. Tame, who is 53. joined London Transport in 1935 and, after various appointments left to join Cunliffe Owen Aircraft Ltd. at Southampton as works manager. He rejoined London Transport lb 1947 as section engineer at Chiswick works and took up his present position in '957.

International Harvester of Great .Britain Ltd. has appointed Mr. Guy H. Lyster as manager, motor truck sales, with headquarters' at the Carr Hill Works, Doncaster, where IT-I plans to start production Of commercial vehicles. Mr. Lyster started with IH in 1947 at the Wichita Motor, Truck office in -Kansas, subsequently holding managerial posts there and elsewhere. In 1960 he became the IH Export 'Co.'s motor truck representative for the Middle East

Obituary

WE regret to record the deaths of Mr. John Oldham, Mr. A. G. Probert and Mr. Charles W. Reeve.

a Mr. Oldham was chairman and joint managing director of Oldham and Son Ltd, He was 68, and had been in poor health for some weeks. He was one of the third generation of the Oldham family to manage the well-known battery and electrical equipment manufacturing business and in'recent years had taken a particular interest in the overseas activities of the company.

Mr. Probert was fo'r many years with the saes side of Thornycroft, but for the past three years has been sales manager of the Marston Motor Co. Ltd., London, N.15.

Mr. Reeve was a former chairman of Associated Commercial Vehicles Ltd. ahd AEC Ltd:, having joined AEC in 1915. He had held a variety of managerial posts with the two companies and -retired in 1953 when financial director of ACV. Fle had served on the councils of the SMMT and MTA. being president of the latter for the years 1922-23.
