"UNFAIR" TREATMENT BY R.H.E.

rOMMENTING upon the Road Haulage Executive's decision to stipulate limitation of liability in respect of goods in transit, Mr. R. G. Alger said at a recent meeting of Newport and Monmouthshire Chamber of Commerce: "It is hard that commercial men should be called upon to pay for damage done by somebody else. It is unfair that the R.H.E. should avoid liability. If claims against them are excessive, the obvious thing to do is to reduce the number of breakages."

He added that because of breakages caused by using State transport facilities, traders had to buy their own vehicles for delivery work.

R.H.A. SAFETY INQUIRY NAEMBERS of the public relations alcommittee of the Road Haulage Association are collecting suggestions on road safety from the areas. It is hoped that the information obtained will be incorporated in a document which can become part of the Asso&tion's policy.
