• Plans by Lancashire haulage contractor Thomas Harwood and Sons to take over the depot of Bolton Transport and Trading Co as an additional operating centre have been turned down by North Western Licensing Authority Roy Hutchings.
The firm applied to make use of the premises at the rear of Tonge Moor Lane, Bolton, but was opposed by Greater Manchester County Council, Bolton Borough Council and the police. There were representations from 16 residents, (CM, March 29).
