• Birmingham has ordered 100 33-ft long double-deck Daimler Fleetline chassis with Gardner 6LX engines and Daimatic transmissions. Front-entrance-central-exit 80seat bodywork suitable for one-man operation will be fitted by Park Royal and will feature a driver's top-deck periscope, electronic passenger-counting equipment and a forward ascending stairway. Daimlers currently in service and on order with Birmingham City Transport number 1,106, 710 being rear-engined Fleetlines.
Leeds City Transport has gone for
standardization by ordering, at 000,000, 55 Daimler Fleetline chassis, 40 being 33-ft double-deckers and 15 the new 36-ft singledeck type. The vast majority of components of both types are identical. The bodywork is respectively by Charles H. Roe and Park Royal. Leeds' Daimler fleet will number 226, 110 rearengined.
