Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

+ Renault VI has appointed Martin Rhodes as general manager, used operations, while Paul Young has been promoted to used operations manager. Young has worked for several Renault dealerships as well as with the company's Dunstable-based used trucks team. The appointments follow the surprise move of former general manager, used operations, Alan Phillips, to MAN dealership MAN North London as used trucks sales manager. Phillips had worked for Renault VI for more than 11 years.

WESTSIDE Westside Trucks of Colchester, Essex, has won the MAN Dealer of the Year award for the third year running; a network first. Connect Europe and Lex Commercials (Derby) came second and third, while manufacturer-owned dealership MAN Tyne Tees picked up the MAN Branch of the Year award.

IVECO FORD • Iveco Ford has set up its own used trucks site at Enfield in Middlesex, and will open one soon in Guildford. But an Iveco Ford spokesman insists that this is not because the manufacturer lacks faith in the ability of its dealers to sell Iveco Ford 2 approved used vehicles. The new locations are there to help Iveco Ford gain a better understanding of the second-hand sector, he says.

"Used is alien to us, and we need to taste it," he contends. "We need to experience, feel, see, touch, and understand the used market."

Both the south of England locations are close to Iveco Ford franchised dealerships so they can make use of their vehicle refurbishing facilities. Last autumn saw Iveco Ford drop plans to set up its own used truck centre at Ampthill, Bedfordshire because it was unhappy about the location.

The company also has an operation wholesaling secondhand trucks based at its premises in Winsford, Cheshire.
