Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Nits recent meeting in Geneva, the ECE working party on the transport of perishable foodstuffs underlined the need for vehicles carrying perishable foodstuffs to be given priority, as far as possible, by international Customs authorities. The meeting also urged the World Health Organization to give favourable consideration to speeding up sanitary formalities for refrigerated transport at international boundaries.

It was noted that the International Container Bureau was conducting a survey amongst exporters and importers of perishable foodstuffs regarding the technical and economic advantages/disadvantages of palletization of perishable foodstuffs.

Delegates were of the view that palletization for this type of load was unsuitable for long-distance traffic. Attention was given to the proposed international agreement on special equipment for the transport of perishable foodstuffs, which has been ratified by France. Spain and Yugoslavia, and signed by Belgium, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Poland, Federal Republic of Germany, and Switzerland.

It was pointed out by delegates that the EEC had recently introduced regulations regarding the refrigerated transport of meat and it was agreed that efforts should be made to harmonize the EEC and ECE provisions.

Other items discussed were the eventual revision of oscillating and vibrating table tests, study of the ventilating shafts to be provided between palletized loads, problems of mechanical refrigeration of transport equipment, use of liquefied gases for the refrigeration of transport vehicles, and electrical ventilation of refrigerating devices.
