Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The watch committee of Wakefield Corporation has granted the application of W. A. Armitage and Sons, Ltd., Blackpool, for permission to ply for hire in the city in connection with a bus service between Wakefield and Blackpool; also that of Underwood Express Services, Ltd. in relation to a service between Leeds and London. On the other hand, it has refused to grant the application of the South Yorkshire Motor Co., Ltd., to ply for hire in the city in connection with a service between Wakefield and Goole, as well as that of Mr. J. Hardcastle, of Pontefract, in regard to a service which he proposed to run between Wakefield and Pontefract.

We learn that the question of the fares to be charged on buses travelling over tram routes in this city is to be considered by the bus traffic sub-committee, and that a sub-committee has been appointed to consider the licensing and regulation of motorbus traffic generally under the existing powers as legally vested in the municipal authorities of Wakefield.

Another report from Wakefield is to the effect that it has been decided to apply to the Ministry of Transport for permission to increase the charges, in respect of hackney carriages licensed to ply for hire in the city, from 2s. lid. per vehicle to 5s.
