Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Three Inexpensive Machines of Medium Capacities, Low Unladen Weights, Striking Appearance and Lavish Equipment

THREE new models are announced by Diamond T Motors, 414, London Road, Isleworth, Middlesex. They are

a 8-, a and a 4-tonner, the price of the smallest chassis being £335. All weigh, unladen, under 21tons, and therefore are within the 30 m.p.h. speed limit.

No changes of any moment have been incorporated in the general chassis design, but special attention has been paid to the ventilation of the cab. This is effected by two screened air scoops, fitted at the extreme front end of the bonnet, where the air drawn in is free from dust and fumes. An air current is conveyed by a duct on the inner side of the bonnet to the side of the cab, where its ingress into the cab is regulated by a sliding panel. In this way the cab is constantly supplied with fresh air, delivered at a pressure varying with the speed of the vehicle, and the maker stresses the importance of this arrangement as a contributory factor to driving efficiency and freedom from accident.

Consideration for the driver is also found in the provision of an electric clock and a cigarette lighter in the facia board. It is thought. that the equipment in this respect is unique among commercial vehicles for comprehensiveness.

The cylinder blocks are cast in a special iron, which makes it unnecessary to incorporate hardened inserted valve seatings. The concern's own vacuum servo system, embodying the Lockheed hydraulic transmission, is employed for brake application.

The pleasing frontal aspect of these new models is enhanced by the wide employment of chromium plating. Among those parts thus finished are the bonnet, louvres, the bumper, the radiator grille, and the hub caps., The screen and radiator are streamlined.

The power units of all three machines are rated at 27.34 hp., and develop 85 b.h.p. The crankshaft has seven bearings of 2i ins, diameter, and it is noteworthy that the total main bearing length amounts to 104 ins. The water jackets extend downwards for the full length Of each cylinder. A down-draught carburetter, an oil filter, • an air cleaner, a four-speed gearbox and Hardy-Spicer needle-roller bear. ing universal joints are features of the chassis, whilst built-in helper springs and 32-in. by 6-in, heavyduty twin rear tyres equip all the three machines for hard service.

The choice of wheelbase lengths offered is as follows: Model 55, 3tonner, 11 ft. 3 ins., 12 ft. 1 in., 13 ft. 2 ins., and 14 ft.; model 65, 3-1--tonner, 12 ft. 1 in., 3.4 ft., 11 ft. 3 ins., and 13 ft. 2 ins.; model TO, 4-tonner, 14 ft. 11 ins., 11 ft. 5 ins., 12 ff. 11 ins., and 13 ft. 11 ins.
