The TUC finance and general purposes committee on Wednesday recommended the TGWU to pay the £55,000 fine imposed by the National Industrial Relations Court for contempt of court.

The general council decided that the finance committee should meet on Monday May 1 to discuss the circumstances in which unions might defend themselves before bodies established by the Industrial Relations Act, and what machinery the TUC should set up to assess these circumstances.
