Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

for this work. The artic unit and trailer do not have to be fitted with wings on the rear wheels when used in connection with timber haulage.

We are considering obtaining a rigid vehicle for similar use but cannot find that there is an exemption from the requirement for wings to be fitted for rigid vehicles. Could you help?

ARegulation 56 and 61 of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1973 exempt heavy motor car and motor car respectively from the need to have rear wings fitted if they form part of an articulated vehicle of which the trailer is used only for or, when empty, in connection with the carriage or round timber. Regulation 73 carries a similar exemption for trailers so used.

There are no such exemptions for rigid vehicles used for this purpose.
