THE difficulties that would aris if a decision was taken to brin in a lorry ban were emphasise by the evidence given by th London Boroughs Association.
The Association aims to repr( sent the views of all th boroughs, but as was demon: trated at the inquiry, it was a most impossible for them to de cide on anything. Givin evidence were Simon Randall c Bromley Council, John Kotz c Hackney Council and a represer tative from the Borough of Can. den.
"Some kind of ban is esser tial," Mr Randall agreed, "IR what form it should take differ from borough to borough." ■ 16-ton weight limit would b acceptable, as this would alio% all the council vehicles to carr on operating, Mr Randal pointed out.
"The M25 will alleviate muc of the problem faced by Grahar Road residents," said Mr Kot "Through traffic will disappee completely, but some other kin of night-time ban should be ir troduced between now and th completion of the M25 sc +he residents can have a .'" .;:er night's sleep," he stressed: Enforcement of a ban woul be necessary, thought Mr Rar dall, as some drivers would sti prefer to drive through Lando than around it, especially whe travelling from one borough ti the next.
Exemptions could be grantel to lorries delivering goods.
