area of Traders' Road Transport Association, Mr. F. G. Joyce (George Freeman Ltd., Brighton) was elected chairman. Retiring chairman Mr. A. A. Coates (Tamplin and Son Ltd., Brighton) was elected vice-chairman.
Mr. J. H. Hooper has been appointed general manufacturing manager of the Perkins Group's U.K. operating unit. Before joining Perkins, Mr. Hooper, who is 43, was a production operations manager of the Ford Motor company's plant at Halewood. He took an engineering apprenticeship with Humber Ltd. and was the company's deputy chief metallurgical engineer from 1949 to 1953, returning in 1955 to become chief metallurgical engineer after two years as overseas technical executive for William Jessop and Son.
Mr. R. E. Clough (a national vicechairman) has been re-elected chairman of the Yorkshire (West Riding) Division of the T.R.T.A. for 1964-65. Vicechairmen are Mr. E. Chamberlain, Mr. H. Hardcastle and Mr. F. H. Woodward.
Mr. R. G. Murton, a director of Wadhams Ltd., is to take over regional responsibility for the Waterlooville, Denmead,Cowplain,Petersfield and Chichester branches of Wadhams Ltd., Wadhams (T.B.A.) Ltd. and Applied Power Ltd. Mr. J. A. Badham, local director, Wadhams, Chichester; has been appointed regional director, Wray Park Garages Ltd., Reigate and Kings Garages (Sussex) Ltd., East Grinstead. Mr. F. S. Head has relin' quished his post as a regional director of Wadhams on medical advice and has been appointed controller—Trustworthy Used Vehicles.
Mr. George Richards has been appointed general manager to Leonard Green (Garages) Ltd.
Mr. G. van Amstel has been appointed managing director of Scan i a-Va bis Nederland N.Y., the Dutch subsidiary of the Swedish vehicle manufacturing company.
Kismet Ltd.. Bedford, has appointed three new sales managers—Mr. J. W. Lawrence (garage equipment division); Mr. B. R. Garratt (petrol pump division) and Mr. R. J. Brindley (industrial division).
Mr. Black
Mr. William L. Black has been appointed general manager at the, Darlington works of the Cummins Engine Co. Ltd. Mr. Black has been with Cummins for the past seven years; he was administration controller at Cummins' Shotts plant and before that was its personnel manager. Originally trained as an engineer in Glasgow after graduating from Glasgow University, Mr. Black was born at Motherwell and has worked in Scotland most of his life. Mr. Gordon Snooks becomes manager of manufacturing at Cummins' Darlington factory; he has held the same post at Shotts for the past 34years. Before that he was for 19 years with the British Motor Corporation and Morris Motors.
At the annual general meeting of the Road Haulage Association milk group, Mr. R. P. Miers was re-elected chairman and Mr. C. W. E. Windsor-Richards vicechairman.
Before leaving to take up his new post as traffic manager of Northern General Transport Co. on April 1, Mr. L. S. Higgins, traffic manager of East Yorkshire Motor Services, received from the administrative and supervisory staffs a presentation of cut glass, including whisky and sherry decanters and drink

Mr. G. E. Jackson has been elected chairman of the Birmingham sub-area of the Road Haulage Association, Mr. H. Richardson being vice-chairman. In the Wolverhampton sub-area Mrs. D. M. Deacon has been elected chairman and the vice-chairman is Mr. A. C. Holmes. Chairman of the Shropshire sub-area is Mr. A. E. Woodham, the vice-chairman being Mr. G. D. James and Mr. W. R. Hill. The chairman of the South Worcestershire and Herefordshire subarea is Mr. L. Payne, the vice-chairrnan being Mr. H. L. Robinson. The Walsall and Cannock sub-area chairman is Mr. J. Hayward and the vice-chairman Mr. J. Hubbard.
Grays Co-operative Society has appointed Mr. C. H. Farrow traffic manager in succession to Mr. T. Whitworth, who has taken up a position with the Colchester. and East Essex Society. Mr. Farrow has been with the London Society's traffic and engineering department for the past nine years.
The Newcastle upon Tyne Corporation deputy traffic superintendent. Mr. L. F. Wilson, has been appointed to the new post of traffic research and development assistant, Coventry Corporation transport department. Mr. Wilson went to Newcastle in June, 1961, from Kingston upon Hull Corporation, where he was assistant traffic superintendent.
