Strachans (Coachbuilders) Ltd. were represented by Mr. Lindsell, whilst Mr. Rurnsey and Mr. Eason represented Leyland Motors Ltd., and the buses were received by the Mayor of West Hartlepool. Also present in the West Hartlepool party were the chairman and the vice-chairman of the transport committee, and the transport manager, Mr. T. J. Sheppard.

Hartlepool .Wants Bodies: West Hartlepool Corporation is .inviting tenders for-two 65-seat rear-eritrance bodies for mounting on Leyland PD2f40 chassis and for three more 45-seat dual-purpose single-decker bodies suitable for Leyland Leopard chassis. Leicester. H.Q.:. The proposed new city transport headquarters -planned by Leicester City Council for Rujjand Street are estimated to cost about izaracio. The building will be six storeys high' and will stand on the site now occupied by the -street lighting depot, which will be demolished. The new premises are unlikely to be ready for use before the end of 1966.

New Bn Station : A large new bus station is included in the plans for a £2,000,000 redevelopment of the centre of Boston, Lines, for the Corporation by County and District Properties 'Ltd.

Bus Advertising: 'Chesterfield Corporation transport committee has accepted an offer from. the London advertising concern of Frank Mason and Co. Ltd. to take the bus exterior advertising rights for the next five years. This will be the first time Chesterfield buses have had such advertisements and it is estimated that about £4,200 a year will be received by the Corporation. .

One-man for Glasgow?: Glasgow Corporation has approved in principle the transport department's plan (The Commercial Motor. March 6), to introduce one-man-operated single-decker buses. Drivers of these vehicles would be given a 15 per cent wage increase; union approval has yet to be secured.

It is a 220-page booklet listing all the towns and places of interest which can be reached direct by coach from London and offers many suggestions for tours based on the capital. Places a interest are also listed county by county, and the booklet includes 52 pages of plates, some in colour, not to mention many more illustrations in the text. The booklet is a " must" for anyone contemplating coach tours from London, both at home and on the Continent, and is excellent value for the Money. Edinburgh Fares Plan: To meet the cost of the latest wage award Edinburgh Corporation is planning a 3d., 6d. and 9d. fare structure. The new rates mean an increase of ld. on the 5d. fare and a decrease of id. on the 10d.. fare. A defizit of £36,800 was expected ,on the year and the new pay award will mean finding an extra £174,000 in a full year.
