Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW express carrriage service of contract buses to carry Glasgow shipyard workers has been granted to W. Alexander and Son (Midlands) Ltd.

The application was granted despite objections from the Greater Glasgow Passenger Transport Executive that the , new service would include pick-up points within the PTE's monopoly area inherited from the old Glasgow Corporation Transport.

A short-term licence was granted to Alexander on September 4 for the service between Bearsden and the Scotstoun Marine shipyard.

The service began when shipyard employees using a former contract hire service asked Alexander to undertake the work.

But the PTE claimed its services 9 and 64 already served the proposed route.

The shipyard workers said they could lose their jobs if they were unable to arrive at work on time, and the PTE buses stopped 440 yards short of the shipyard gates.
