Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• International hauliers will soon be able to insure against being held up in blockades and strikes of the kind that have affected parts of Europe over the past three months.

Roberts & Davis Schemes is offering policies to hauliers that would pay out either £250 or £400 for each day that they were "prevented from going about their lawful business" by a strike or blockade.

The plan, which covers the European Union, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Finland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco and San Marino, costs either £42.50 or £70, plus 2.5% insurance premium tax, per vehicle per year.

Payouts only start after an insured truck has been trapped for 48 hours; they are up to a maximum of .C5,000 or £8,000 for each vehicle over the insured period.

Hauliers who wish to find out more about these policies can contact Roberts & Davis through their brokers; the company does not deal directly with customers. Brokers can contact the firm on 01638 600101.
