Thornycroft. not exceeding 2 tons 19 cwt. Certificates for both Class " A " and Class "13" vehicles have already been granted to Leyland Motors, Ltd., Leyland, as the result of previous trials.

As already announced, the date originally fixed for the trials was March, 1913, but, as all the entrants had their vehicles ready by the end of 1912, it was decided to hold the trials in January. Owing to the weather and road conditions the test was a severe one. [Because of extreme pressure on our space we have had to omit tabulated particulars of the machines' daily running. The average fuel consumption ingross ton-miles per gallon was 43.7.—En.] The next trial will open in the first or second week of September next, by which date entrants must have their vehicles ready for inspection on the road. The second part of the trial will commence, about the first week in October, when vehicles will be presented at Aldershot, and be subjected to a test of about 1500 miles under observation. Seven or eight leading firms in the industry have already signified their intention of entering vehicles.
