Leyland Motor Corporation, has also been app.linted chairman of Standard-Triumph International Ltd. in succession to Sir Henry Spurrier. Sir Henry retired recently from active participation in the Corporation's affairs and became its first president, while Mr. Stanley Markland, managing director of Standard-Triumph International Ltd., will retire on December 31. Mr. Stokes is 49. Sir William Black, chairman of the Leyland Motor Corporation, commented: "As Mr. Stokes is assuming full executive control of Standard-Triumph it is not proposed to appoint a managing director. The present director and general manager, Mr. George Turnbull, however, will assume broader responsibilities under Mr. Stokes ". The management team which will operate under Mr. Stokes is one of the youngest in the motor industry. Apart from Mr. Turnbull, who is 37, top members of the team include Mr. Harry Webster, engineering director, who is 46 and responsible for all design and development, and Mr. John Carpenter, the general sales manager in charge of all marketing and service operations at home and overseas, who is 38.
Mr. C. H. Thomas, transport manager of Hawkhead Bray and Son Ltd., Halifax, retired at Christmas after more than 30 yearsservice.

Jones, sales representative in Kent for many years, has been appointed district manager in Maidstone in place of Mr. Weston. Mr. D. C. Taylor, general line representative in the North West since 1957, has been appointed district manager Recent appointments made by Wolf Electric Tools Ltd. are Mr. F. L. Gibson as general sales manager, Mr. B. I. Cawthra as export sales manager and Mr. J. King as home sales manager.
Mr. J. E. Walker has been appointed sales manager at the new Wolverhampton depot of Telamite Ltd., brake lining manufacturers and distributors of specialized motor components.
Mr. R. W. Simpkin has been appointed deputy managing director of Vitafoam Ltd. in addition to director of the automotive products division.
Mr. E. J. Green has been appointed sales manager of Imperial-Eastman (U.K,) Ltd. He has spent many years in the motor trade, first with Brown Bros. Ltd. and subsequently with Kismet Ltd., where latterly he was home sales manager.
