THE FIRST Auto Design commercial vehicle award has been won by the Iveco Turbostar. A European judging panel made the award in Turin last week.
The eight judges — CM editor lain Sherriff represented Britain — gave Iveco six votes with the Leyland Roadrunner and a Mercedes-Benz getting one vote each. The judging criterion was for the cab design which afforded the driver the greatest comfort and safety. Styling was also taken into account.
The Italian judge believed that the Mercedes-Benz entry was not "aggressive enough_".
