ACONFERENCE of certifying officers which was held in Birmingham last week was the first of these biannual meetings to be held outside the London area. The object of the conferences is to enable the officers to exchange views on matters directly concerned with their work, and the proceedings are conducted in private.

Hospitality was extended to conference members by Birmingham Transport Department and the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd. The corporation entertained the party to dinner on the first day, and the company held a similar function on the second day.

During the two days the certifying officers visited the depot and garages of Birmingham Transport Department, the Carlisle Road works of B.M.M.O., and the works of Daimler, MetropolitanCanamell-Wcymann, Joseph Lucas, Guy and Brockhouse.
