Its that time of year again, wrap up warm
WITH ATTENTION naturally turning to the impending winter, our choice for the best used truck this week is a 2007-built Volvo FLE280 with a gritter body.
The 57-plate, 18-tonner is powered by a Euro-5 7.2-litre driveline and delivers 280hp. It is fitted with a six-speed manual transmission, a day cab and has the full local authority specification. It's arrived straight from a council and has 87,000km on the clock.
It comes with two demountable bodies built by Econ Engineering, in Ripon, North Yorkshire; a Zero C 6m3 gritter body and three-way tipper.
There is a plough blade to go on the front of the truck as well. The vendor is AWL Trucks, based at Ilkeston, Derbyshire, which has valued it at £29,950 (plus VAT).
This is a particularly strong specification. The Volvo FL280 is a robust truck, and a favourite among local authorities for the more arduous and demanding work.
The three-way tipper body makes it a versatile vehicle that can be used for other roadside operations.
