nUESTIONS about the unauthorized

carriage of airmen between Leuchars and Wormit Railway Station were put to a coach operator, Mr. John P. Williamson, Newport, when he appeared before the Scottish Traffic Commissioners at Dundee last week to seek renewal of his express carriage licence.

Mr. Ivo Townsend, deputy chairman. pointed out that the licence, which had been granted for an experimental period of one year, was restricted to the carriage of civilian maintenance personnel at the aerodrome.

Observations between Sept. 10 and 14 revealed that a total of 38 service personnel travelled between the points, Mr. Williamson said this was without his knowledge. He had never carried any airmen when he was driving the bus.

Mr. Townsend said the Commissioners would look at the route to the camp from the station. If they felt there was a ease for a service, they would hold a further sitting at which the applicant would he required to bring a responsible R.A.E. officer to give evidence as to the number of civilian maintenance personnel who travelled.

In the meantime, the licence would continue, but he advised the applicant to sec that no service personnel used the bus.
