Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE first of 12 Ford R192 single-decker buses (above) with one-man 45-seat Strachans bodies has just been placed in service by Birmingham City Transport.

The buses will be run on a trial basis to test their economic advantages over the heavyduty type of bus normally standard with municipal undertakings. Birmingham operates a fleet of 1,600 buses, most of which are double-deckers.

The chassis, supplied by Don Everall Commercial Vehicles Ltd., are fitted with the Ford 128 b.h.p. diesel engine and have five-speed gearboxes and 6.14 to 1 rear axle ratios.

Strachans Pacesaver Mk II bodies with lightweight steel frames and double-skinned panelling are fitted to the new buses. Although this body normally has a two-step entrance, the version for Birmingham has a three-step entrance to reduce step height.

New Look: Yorkshire Traction Co. Ltd. is redesigning the style of the lettering on the sides of its buses to give them a more modern appearance. Accrington Bus Tender: Accrington Corporation transport committee has authorized the transport manager to invite tenders for the supply of three double-deck and two single-deck buses as replacements.
