Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I use it for transporting horses to hunt meetings when the occasion arises. I am told that the ramp with which the animals are loaded now must have side rails. Could you say when this requirement was imposed?

A You are probably referring to the requirement under Article 4 of the Transit of Animals (Road and Rail) Order 1975 that the ramp used to load and unload animals on to or off a vehicle must have side railings not less than 1.3m (4ft 4in) high.

This does not apply, however, to a horsebox where the loading and unloading is effected by leading each horse into and out of the vehicle.

For your information, the measures contained in the Order which refer to the construction of vehicles and receptacles comes into effect on August 1, 1976, for new vehicles and August 1, 1980, for existing vehicles.
