Fire,-Brigade Matters.

Trowbridge (Wilts) fire brigade has opened a subscription to enable it to purchase a motor tender.

Kettering Town Council has deferred further consideration of motor-fire-engine purchase for six months.

Coalville U.D.C. and eight other parishes are trying to make joint arrangements for the acquirement of a motor fire-engine.

Rhyt U.D.C. has deferred con:ideration of a recommendation by its Water Committee that a motor fire-engine shall be purchased at £700.

The Grimsby 11.D.C. has agreed to pay the Grimsby Town Council a retaining fee of £200 per annum for motor fire-engine service in the rural area. The receipts of the Tramways (M.E.T.) Omnibus Co, Ltd., for the week ended 14th March, 1914, were £755, and for the Gearless Omnibus Co, Ltd., £447.

The receipts of the National Steam Car Co., Ltd., for the week ended 21st March, 1911, were £3682. This shous an increase of £1633 over the corresponding period of last year.

The L.C.C. will proceed to establish six motor-ambulance stations.

On a motion to purchase two motor fire-engines, at the last meeting of the Town Council, a special sub-committee was appointed to make further inquiries.

Beckenham U.D.C. has accepted the tender of Dennis Bros., Ltd., at, £765, for a petrol-driven motor-fireengine. The other tenders were : Merryweather, £847; Simonis, £845; Leyland, .28S.

Messrs. John Pook and Co., 68, Fenehurch Street, E.C., the London agents for the Shanghai Municipality, desire to receive tenders for two 300-gallon motor-driven firepumps by the 30th inst.

Nobel's Explosives Co. will probably purchase a motor fire-engine, at an early date, for use at its Linlithgow works, and it is believed that the engine will he available to deal with fires, that may occur elsewhere in the district. The Abersychan U.D.C. will its next meeting, on the motion Councillor Blackmoor, discuss t purchase of a motor fire-engine.

East Ham Corporation has a eepted the tender of H. Simot and Co. for the supply of a mot fire-engine, at 2,625, and a fir escape at £712.

LA O.C. Garage Gatherings.

On Saturday evening last a presentation of a gold watch was made to Superintendent W. R. Crook, of the L.G.O.C., on the occasion of his severing his connection with the company. The chair was taken by Mr. T. C. Vile, who introduced Mr. J. C. Cameron, the new superintendent for the Walworthgarage to those present.

The fourth annual dinner of the Battersea garage of the L.G.O.C. took place at Ye Old Plough, Clapham Junction, on Monday of last week. The chair was taken by Mr. J. Hannaford, superintcn dent, and there were 80 diners. Mr. Parker was in the vice-chair. Amongst the visitors was Mr. Kishere, late superintendent at Battersea, and now manager of the Bedford depot
