The new ship is the Ionic Ferry, previously the Dragon operated by P&O on its crossChannel service. Townsend Thoresen bought this side of P&O's business last year. It can accommodate more freight than the Free Enterprise IV which it replaces.
The Europic Ferry will continue on the CainryanLarne route. Between them, the two ships have a freight capacity of over 660 units a day — an increase of 230 units.
