• Noel Penny Turbines Ltd has bought a 3+-acre factory in Coventry that was built by the late Harry Ferguson for the development of four-wheel-drive transmission systems. According to a forecast by Mr Noel Penny, managing director of the company, a low-cost gas turbine will be produced in the factory within three years.
While the first turbine will probably be an auxiliary unit for aircraft or contractors' off-the-road vehicles, engines in the pipe-line will be available for application to commercial vehicles as well as cars, train's, hovercraft and so on some time in the next 10 years.
