THE DEPARTMENT of Transport is reminding operators that they must fit sideguards to all vehicles being operated at gross weights above 32.5 tonnes after May 1.
It is still discussing a honeymoon period for some vehicles with transport industry representatives (CM, February 19), but stresses that this will apply only to two-axle semi-trailers used behind twoaxle tractive units which are plated at over 32.5 tonnes after May 1.
