Prices of Transport Units Rising Publicity Brings Big Orders for Purchaser of B.R.S. Vehicles

pRICES offered for transport units are rising. Evidence is to be found not only in the progress report on List 3 published last week, but in prices revealed to The Commercial Motor.

In one case £2,850 was paid for a unit comprising two vans, which them selves were valued at £1,400. The allowance for the special A licences was at the rate of £240 per ton unladen.

In another instance £200 per ton unladen, plus the value of vehicles, was bid and accepted. On the other hand, in a third case, an offer of £100 per ton unladen for the licences, plus £1,000 for four . vehicles of a popular make, succeeded. Another buyer paid £1,100 for a unit consisting of a 30 m.p.h.

vehicle.

Unlike many. hauliers who conceal their purchases of transport units, a Midland operator, who re-entered the haulage industry on Monday, advertised his success in tendering, with the result -that when he began work he was already overbooked with orders.
