THE ISUZU F SERIES is the star turn at this week's CV Show — it is being previewed by the Japanese giant ahead of a launch next year.

The truck on display at Birmingham is a prototype built to the Japanese domestic specification and shipped over for the show. While it is a good representation of what the UK can expect, a number of spec changes are expected before the newcomer starts its UK market offensive.

Isuzu Truck will bring in three versions of the F Series: a day-cab 10/11tonner, a 12-tanner in day and crew-cab guise, and a 15/18-tonne sleeper.

Power in the new range comes from a family of Isuzu 5.2 and 7.8-litre engines, covering power ratings from 210-300hp.

Initial UK versions will be at Euro-4 with EGR technology and a diesel particulate filter, Braking is by air-over-hydraulic drums on the 10/11 and 12-tonner; the heavier models will come with full-air disc brakes on all axles.

The stylish new cab offers enhanced living space compared with its 7.5-tonne stablemate, which will come as welcome news to drivers. The fit and finish of the cab in the show model looks more than capable of taking on the best that Europe has to offer.
