Mik. R. J. PINDER has been • elected chairman of the Cleveland Petroleufn Co., Ltd., an Esso subsidiary. He succeeds MR. H. C. TErr, who wishes to devote more time to his duties as chairman and managing director of the Esso Petroleum Co., Ltd. Mr. Pinder wjll continue as a managing director of Esso. MR. E. W. HaammAN has been appointed general manager (marketing) of Esso in succession to MR. W. H. CRITCHLOW, who has become a director of Cleveland Petroleum Co. and Esso Petroleum Co. (Ireland), Ltd.

COMETS START LONG INDIAN ROUTE

WHAT is claimed to be the longest inter-state bus service in India has been inaugurated between Bangalore and Madras by two Leyland Comet singledeckers. One vehicle, belonging to the Madras State Transport Department, leaves Madras at 7 a.m. as the other vehicle, owned by Mysore Government Road Transport, departs from Bangalore.

The vehicles make meal stops along the 220-mile route, and reach their destinations at 4 p.m.

MODEL-T RALLY AWARDS

AT the Ford Model-T rally at Beaulieu, Hants, last Sunday, V. E. Brewster won the Ford Cup for the best Model-T, irrespective of age and type, and R. Stay the Historic Commercial Vehicle Club Trophy for the best Model-T commercial vehicle. Mr. Brewster entered a 1922 van and Mr. Stay a .1923 van.
