Scania will decide by Christmas whether to introduce a bonneted tractive unit to the UK, following a survey which found that 94 of the hauliers visiting Scania's Motor Show stand would consider buying one (CM 18-24 October).
"There is sufficient interest from the survey to take it a stage further: there's a seed of viability worth looking into," says Scania, which displayed a bonneted T113ML at the show last month.
Half the 94 were keen on a 4x 2 specification, with the others split between a 6x2 and 6x4 (Scania makes all three in its Swedish and Belgian factories) and 60% wanted an 11litre engine, rather than a nine or 14-litre unit.
