Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FEN0 new low-powered trucks. and number of mechanical shovels and mobile cranes, are to be seen at the Building Exhibition now running at Olympia. The new trucks arc a Mechanical Moke six-wheeled lowloader, and a 3 h.p. version of the Wrigley truck.

The Mechanical Moke is powered by a J.A.P. 2.4 h.p. engine, which, together with its auxiliaries, is mounted as a unit with the steered wheel. It is normally a three-wheeled machine, but this model has its wheels mounted in pairs, each pair being on a common axle.

An interesting feature in the design is that the axles at the rear are slung from rubber-backed brackets which encircle the main frame. The effect is to allow controlled movement of the axles as the truck passes over uneven ground.

The chassis and body are constructed of steel, the chassis members being tubular and the body of chequered plate. The new model has been designed to carry loads up to 30 cwt. The Mechanical Moke is made by Phillips, Wallington and Co., Ltd., 71a, Manchester Road, Cubitt Town, London, E.14.

Bigger Wrigley

The new Wrigley truck is known as No. 332. In general specification it is similar to previous models, differing only in engine size and gearbox. No, 332 has a Villiers 3 h.p. fourstroke engine, and a three-speed and reveise gearbox. The object of fitting a reverse gear is to enable the truck to be driven backwards without the driver having to make use of the full-circle swivelling action of the front wheel.

In consequence, a tractor-type seat is now fitted to the forward edge of the body. As exhibited, the body is of the drop-sided type, but this is optional. This truck is suitable for hauling loads up to 1 ton.

Normal braking takes effect on only the front wheel, but a pedal-operated brake acting on the rear wheels is necessary in cases where the truck is to be used outside factory premises. As shown, such a brake is fitted. The maker is Wessex Industries (Poole), Ltd., West Street, Poole, Dorset.

, There is a number of examples of mobile crane, of wWch the Neal G.M., B12 of 15-cwt. capacity, is a recent addition to the maker's range. The model shown has a telescopic mast which extends from 15 ft. to 25 ft, The telescoping movement is brought about through the agency of an auxiliary hand-operated winch located at the base of the lower mast.
