• Lorry-only lanes could be introduced as the forerunner of a new generation of toll roads.
In the Government consultation document New Roads by New Means, Transport Secretary Paul Channon has indicated that a network of pay-roads could eventually span the country. This will make it easier for developers to build privately-financed roads.
