Speaking at the show. the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE), which has just released its latest guide to tipper stability, warned that the Health and Safety Executive has asked to be kept informed of developments in tipper guidelines, The USE also said closer monitoring and more stringent legislation may be necessary to avoid accidents.

Graham Ellis, chairman of the IRTE's working party on tipper stability, says: "The HSE has said it could work alongside the IRTE. though we could be left to our own devices if the industry shows enough co-operation."
