Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THIS week the inspection service of the Freight Transport Association celebrates its 10th anniversary. From a pilot scheme launched in June 1966 in London, the service now operates nationwide checking around 90,000 vehicles a year.

The scheme was set up following a MoT spot check on trucks In 1964 when, in a sample of 5,000 trucks, 53 per cent were found to be defective.

AT Commercial Motor, we used the services of the FTA Inspection scheme in 1974 when we carried out a survey into the mechanical condition of rented vans and trucks.
